I stayed for seven days at the Sheraton Pune in India. Over that time you see the same people over and over. Same people at breakfast. Same people in the lobby. Same servers at the restaurants. Mostly people from around India. A few international tourists. Mostly normal people. Mostly.
And then there's bathrobe guy. We first saw him at breakfast after a couple days. The restaurant is off the lobby with a full buffet. Everything you could want. Guests would come down in shorts or suits or whatever to eat before their day. And then this guy shows up in his bathrobe and slippers from his room. He looks lost sort of wanders in. Sits down. Eats a yogurt. He totally stands out. He pulls out his Nintendo switch and plays for a while. Wanders out.
Later that day we are sitting in the lounge and we hear this loud music coming down the hall. It's bathrobe guy again. This time with a Bluetooth speaker blaring club music. Heavy beats. He's jamming. Gets on the elevator and he's gone.
Next day we are in the lobby. Here comes bathrobe guy. Bluetooth speaker. Even louders. Sits in the lobby and start playing the Nintendo switch again. Blaring music takes over the lobby. Eventually the manager asks him to turn it down, which he does ever so slightly.
Last day at the hotel. We are up early for an early flight and head to breakfast. We are the only ones there except... Bathrobe guy. This time he has no speaker, he has a butterfly knife. Not a small one. He's flipping it open and closed. Almost menacingly. He leaves. And comes back. Sits in a different seat closer to us. Still we are the only ones there. Still he is flipping his knife open. Almost seems like he's waiting to be asked about his knife.
We thought about saying something but decided we just needed to get out of town.
