HP with Microsoft have come up with a new Media Center PC that is designed to not only take on the features of a TV and stereo, but actually make them usable enough to replace them. The coolest thing about the combination PC and OS (it's a new version of Windows XP) is the integration of a remote control that, when used, changed the PC display to be large-type and easily readable from across the room.

From what the screen shots show, the UI is pretty cool and made easy to navigate with the remote. I could see how this interface would allow a user to use the music and video features without needing another special interface. It would be interesting to get a better real-life scenario test of this unit in a living room without any other entertainment components. If the features really to mimic the TiVo-type features of pausing live TV and recording automatically (which it is supposed to) then it should be a winner!

Ok. So after all the hoopla about blogging and my unexplainable addiction to Slashdot, I decided to check out blogger and my own weblog. So, here it is. We'll see how it goes.
